FORD SHELBY GT350R-C WINS ROAD ATLANTA AND CHAMPIONSHIP!

BRASELTON, GA, October 1st, 2016 – CHAMPIONS, the Multimatic Motorsports team of Billy Johnson and Scott Maxwell clinched the 2016 Driver, Team and Manufacturers’ Championships!
This dynamic duo captured the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Grand Sport class titles and sixth overall race win and pole of the 2016 season at Road Atlanta. “Congratulations to the Multimatic Motorsports and Ford Performance team on clinching the championships and win!” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “This has been a fantastic year for the Ford Shelby Mustang team. Roush Yates Engines is honored to have partnered with Ford Performance in building the Ford Shelby GT350R-C race winning engine that brought home the championship.”
On the way to winning the championship the No. 15 raced over 1,860 miles, in nine races and winning an impressive six out of the nine, their first being the season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
They would go onto accumulate wins at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Lime Rock, Road America and Circuit of The Americas.
Ford Motor Co. also clinched the Manufactures’ Championship in the Grand Sport class by the No. 15 winning the race.
Maxwell secured the pole for the No. 15 on Thursday, making it the team’s sixth for the year and an IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge record of 16 for Maxwell.
The No. 15 of Maxwell led them off the grid and Johnson finished a strong second stint, re-taking the lead in the final laps of the race and taking the Multimatic Motorsports Ford Shelby across the finish line. Johnson punctuated the Championship win with his signature drift lap.

“It was the longest 45 minutes of my life,” said Maxwell, who had to complete a minimum drive time of 45 minutes to earn his half of the drivers’ championship. “The car was fine, it was just trying to go around and not get involved in any trouble.”

Billy Johnson now holds the all-time IMSA – Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge win record with 23.
The C360R team of Paul Holton and Pierre Kleinubing also ran strong in the No. 76 to finish P4.
The 2016 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season may have come to a close, but the 2017 Season will start up again on January 26th, 2017 at Daytona International Speedway. Please see below for the 2017 official schedule.

TYLER REDDICK WINS AT LAS VEGAS!

LAS VEGAS, Nev., October 3rd, 2016 – Tyler Reddick scored his first win of the 2016 season and Daniel Hemric finished second in the DC Solar 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  This victory was Reddick’s first win of the 2016 season and also marked the first one-two finish for Brad Keselowski Racing. Saturday night’s race was the second of three races in the Chase’s Round of 8, Hemric is now 15 points outside the six-driver cutoff line.
Reddick started the race in 16th postiton and powered his way to the front early.  Reddick earned the top spot at lap 44 and would lead the field for 70 out of 146 laps.
Hemric set the fastest lap in practice for the weekend and qualified 6th  for the race. Hemric ran in the top five for most of the night and would go on to lead the field for the first time on lap 45.  After challenging his teammate for the win, he tied his career-best finish and rounded out the night with the second-most laps led, 38.
“Congratulations to the Tyler Reddick, Ford Performance and Brad Keselowski Racing on winning and finishing one-two at Las Vegas, said Doug Yates, “Leading 108 laps at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a testament to how well the F-150 trucks were prepared.
The 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race for the Chase continues at Talladega Superspeedway on October 22nd.  All eight Chase drivers are determined to transfer into the next round towards a Championship, but only six drivers will continue.

LOGANO WINS XFINITY AT CHARLOTTE / ROUSH FENWAY RACING MOVES ON TO ROUND OF 8!

CHARLOTTE, N.C., October 10, 2016 – Joey Logano and Team Penske captured the NASCAR Xfinity win at Charlotte Motor Speedway. As the exclusive Ford Performance engine builder for NASCAR, Roush Yates Engines in partnership with Ford Performance designed, tested and built the Ford FR9 V8 winning engine that powered the No. 12 Ford Mustang to victory lane in the NASCAR Xfinity Series BCBS NC Race for the Cure 300.
Logano, driver No. 12 of Team Penske made an incredible surge to take the lead with only 12 laps to go, after going three wide on the final restart. Logano was able to pull away from Kyle Larson to take the checkered flag.

“We stayed on the lead lap on that long run and the pit crew did their job by keeping us in position to make an awesome restart at the end,” said Joey Logano. “It was kind of an all-or-nothing move and to be able to get the lead and ultimately hold them off to get the checkered flag.”

This was Logano’s second Xfinity win for Team Penske and Ford Performance this season.

To round out the race, No. 22 Brad Keselowski of Team Penske finished 9th, the Roush Fenway Racing teammates of No. 16 Ryan Reed finished 15th and No. 6 Darrell Wallace Jr. finished 20th.

The Xfinity Chase is heating up as well, with two Roush Fenway Racing cars in the mix, No. 6 of Wallace Jr. and No. 16 of Reed advancing to The Round of 8 and move on to Kansas.

“We had our work cut out for us this weekend with the rain delays and rescheduled races,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “I’m so proud of the team, they kept digging throughout the race and were able to bring home a win at our hometown track in Charlotte. A special congratulations to Jack (Roush) and Roush Fenway Racing for advancing in the Chase.”

As the Chase moves on to Kansas Speedway this weekend, the Ford Performance teams gain momentum after last week’s win and double advancement in the Chase.

2016 FORD GT IMSA YEAR IN REVIEW

MOORESVILLE, NC, October 12th, 2016 – The inaugural IMSA season for the Ford GT and the Ford Performance, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing and Roush Yates Engines team has come to a close.

The dynamic driving of Joey Hand / Dirk Müller / Sébastien Bourdais drivers of the No. 66 and No. 67 of Ryan Briscoe / Richard Westbrook / Scott Dixon (Stefan Mücke) of Ford Chip Ganassi Racing teams had a very successful 2016 season.

The Ford Chip Ganassi Racing – US teams won 3 races and took home 5 poles.
On the way to winning the 3 races and 5 poles, the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing – US teams raced over 12,470 miles across 11 races and achieved their first win at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.
They went on to win the Six Hours of the Glen. Winning this caliber of competitive endurance race is a testament to the team, drivers and performance and reliability of the Ford EcoBoost V6 engine.
They would go on to win back-to-back races by winning the Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix in Ontario, Canada.
In addition, the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing – US team traveled abroad to race with their sister team (Ford Chip Ganassi Racing – UK) in the FIA Series for one race in Le Mans, France. Although their number plates were modified to No. 67 and No. 68 the teams came out in force. The team of Joey Hand / Dirk Müller / Sébastien Bourdais achieved the pinnacle of Road Racing victories and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans under the No. 68 number plate as well as acheived the pole position.

FORD GT WINS FUJI! | 1-2 FINISH!

FUJI, JAPAN, October 17, 2016 – The No. 67 Ford GT, driven by Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell took the checkered flag for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing. Winning the FIA World Endurance Championship Series, 6 Hours of Fuji.  The Priaulx / Tincknell duo achieved their first win of the WEC season in dramatic fashion at the Fuji Speedway in the seventh race of the season.
“Your first win for a manufacturer is always special but with everything we’ve been through this season it’s a massive relief,” added Harry Tincknell.

The No. 66 sister car driven by Olivier Pla and Stefan Mücke made it a 1-2 Ford finish.

Roush Yates Engines in partnership with Ford Performance redefined the twin-turbo Ford EcoBoost V6 race engine to provide the power for the Ford GT to win the six hour endurance race, leading the majority of the 212 laps completed on the 2.835 mile circuit (601 miles) at the base of Mt. Fuji.
The Ford GT and Ford EcoBoost V6 ran flawlessly and the tandem team of Priaulx and Tincknell drove a spectacular race on the demanding 16-turn road course, known for the signature long straight away, high speed middle-section and tight technical turns. Tincknell took the No. 67 to the lead at the start of the race by driving to the front at the drop of the green flag.

It was an entire team effort, pit stops and driver changes were executed perfectly during the six hour race and was key to the team’s success.

“This was an incredible race,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “To see the Ford GT on pole and then on top of the podium, in first and second, it doesn’t get any better hop over to these guys. The Roush Yates Engines’ team is very proud to be part of Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team’s fifth GT win and our own 280th overall win.”

The No. 67 recorded the fastest lap of the race with Tincknell laying down a lap time of 1:38.575.

No.66 of Pla and Mücke secured the Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance (LM GTE) class pole during qualifying on Saturday in Fuji and the No. 67 took second place to make it an all Ford GT front row.
In the hunt for the World Endurance Championship points, the victory moved the No. 67 up to fourth and the No. 66 to third in LMGTE team standings.

The teams are posed for the last two races of the season, taking them to Shanghai – China and wrapping up the 2016 season in Sakhir – Bahrain.

LOGANO WINS TALLADEGA & ADVANCES TO THE ROUND OF 8!

TALLADEGA, Ala., October 24, 2016 – Joey Logano takes back-to-back October wins at Talladega Superspeedway and advances to the third round of the Chase. Roush Yates Engines in partnership with Ford Performance provided the Ford FR9 V8 winning engine that powered the No. 22 to victory lane in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Hellmann’s 500.
Logano, driver of the Team Penske No. 22 made an impressive statement by winning his second fall Chase race at the legendary Talladega Superspeedway.

“I think it was really Ford won today,” said Roger Penske, Owner of Team Penske.  “The way the cars ran there was no question that Roush Yates gave us some strong motors.  I think we had great cars.”

The No. 22 showed persistence and patience was the winning formula during the Hellmann’s 500. Logano and his Ford Fusion battled back after an early pit stop issue on lap 67 with brilliant driving and side drafting to get back on the lead lap and in contention for the lead.

The Fords of Logano from Team Penske and Brian Scott, No. 44 of Richard Petty Motorsports, lined up side-by-side to take the green flag during the overtime session. Logano leveraged the Roush Yates Engines’ horsepower from the Ford FR9 V8 race engine and maintained the lead off the long tri-oval and down the front stretch to find himself in victory circle.
Scott would bring home his first second place finish in a NASCAR Sprint Cup race for Richard Petty Motorsports while Ricky Stenhouse Jr., No. 17 of Roush Fenway Racing finished 5th and Aric Almirola, No. 43 finished 8th.

Five different Fords led a total of 157 out of the 192 laps. Brad Keselowski No. 2 and Logano ran very strong, leading 135 laps while Roush Fenway Racing teammates, Greg Biffle No. 16 and Stenhouse Jr. combined for 19 laps and Ryan Blaney No. 21 of the Wood Brothers Racing would round out the group.

“Congratulations to Joey, Team Penske and Ford Performance,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “Winning at Talladega is so special and to finish 1–2 is just incredible. “The entire team has been working hard and the Ford FR9 race engine is very well suited for this type of track and racing. Next week the Chase moves onto Martinsville and Logano will be one of eight in the third round for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
