LOUDON, NH – August 3, 2020 – Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines won their third straight race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with Brad Keselowski during the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 (Kevin Harvick 2018 and 2019).  Keselowski’s win was his third for the NASCAR Cup Series 2020 season. This marked Team Penske’s 50th NCS series win with Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines since 2013.
“Congratulations to Roger, Brad, Jeremy, and everyone at Team Penske,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “The Ford Mustangs ran strong at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and it was great to see the teams of Team Penske, Stewart-Haas Racing, and Wood Brothers Racing finish in the top 10. I’m looking forward to racing at Michigan International Speedway this upcoming weekend and thankful for the leadership and commitment from Ford Motor Company.”
Keselowski led the final 81 laps to finish 1.647 seconds ahead of Denny Hamlin in the 318 mile race. In total, Keselowski’s No. 2 Ford Mustang led a total of 184 out of 301 laps and won Stage 2. Six Fords finished in the top-10, with Team Penske teammate Joey Logano in P4, Stewart- Haas Racing Kevin Harvick in P5, Wood Brothers Racing Matt DiBenedetto in P6, Stewart-Haas Racing teammates Aric Almirola in P7, and rookie Cole Custer in P8.
“We’ve had a lot of great races this year with the 2 car, but we just haven’t really went out and kind of dominated a race,” said Keselowski. “Talking to Jeremy Bullins and like, ‘Man, what do we need to get to the next level? We’re right there. We need to go out and just dominate a race,’ and that’s what today was for us with the Western Star/Alliance parts Ford Mustang. I’m really proud of my team and the effort that they gave today. A great race car and to all the Team Penske, thank you. It’s so great to be racing back in front of fans again. It feels like forever, so welcome back, guys.”

Ford leads all manufacturers with 11 Mustang race wins while Stewart-Haas and Kevin Harvick lead the owner and driver points standings in NCS.

FORD PERFORMANCE SWEEPS MICHIGAN AND ROAD AMERICA

BROOKLYN, MI – August 10, 2020 – Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines won at Road America with Austin Cindric and swept the double header at Michigan International Speedway with Kevin Harvick. Cindric’s win marked his fourth win in the 2020 season and the ninth win for Ford Performance in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Harvick’s wins marked three in-a-row in the NASCAR Cup Series for Stewart-Haas Racing and six in-a-row at MIS for Ford Performance teams and Roush Yates Engines.
“What an incredible weekend!” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “The weekend started off with an impressive run and win by Austin Cindric at Road America then ended with Kevin Harvick sweeping Michigan! Winning at Michigan has always been special for our team and the Ford family. It feels great to be able to keep the Heritage trophy in Dearborn.”
The NASCAR Cup Series had an action-packed weekend with a double header at Michigan International Speedway. Harvick dominated on Saturday afternoon, winning both stages and the FireKeepers Casino 400. Harvick‘s fast Ford Mustang was out front the majority of the afternoon, leading a race-high 92 of the 161 laps.
As the laps wound down, the competition began to heat up. There were five restarts in the final 30 laps, including an overtime finish, that forced Harvick, “The Closer”, to close out the win just 0.284 seconds in front of Ford Performance teammate Brad Keselowski.

Ryan Blaney also had a strong day, leading 27 laps, top five finish in both stages, and finishing P4. Joey Logano led 18 laps while finishing P8.

“This was just an awesome car to drive today,” Harvick said. “I think the confidence is high when we come to Michigan anyway. It‘s a race track that‘s been really good to us and for whatever reason just fits our style of cars, everything we do with our cars at Stewart-Haas Racing.”
Sunday’s Michigan race was more of the same, with Harvick winning stage two and the race. Harvick led a race-high 90 of 156 laps. This was his sixth victory of the season, his fifth at Michigan and the 55th of his Cup Series career, tying him with Rusty Wallace on the series’ all-time win list.
Harvick had to hold off a hard charging Denny Hamlin in the closing laps of the Consumers Energy 400 on Sunday. “It was a big challenge.” said Harvick. “Our Busch Light Apple Ford Mustang got really tight there in three and four. I could run really good through one and two still, but I was just tight on that other end all day. So, I’ve just got to thank all my guys. They did a great job all weekend on pit road. Great pit calls. Just got to thank Haas Automation, Mobil 1, Hunt Brothers, Jimmy Johns, Fields. Everybody who helps put this No. 4 car on the track and everybody at Stewart-Haas Racing and Roush Yates Engines for awesome power underneath the hood this weekend.”
For Sunday’s race, Logano finished P5, Aric Almirola P6, and Matt DiBenedetto had a great run, finishing P7. Clint Bowyer also led 43 laps while winning stage one.
On Saturday afternoon the NASCAR Xfinity Series took on Road America, a 4.048-mile road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Cindric dove into Turn 1 taking the lead after the green flag dropped and led the opening eight laps before cars were called to pit road due to lightning in the area. After more than an hour of delay, teams returned to their cars.
The entire race was filled with ever changing weather conditions that made pit road strategy crucial. Heavy rain showers during the race forced teams to change to rain tires, but once the sun came out it was a race back to the slick tires.
The race win came down to a three-lap shootout between Cindric and AJ Allmendinger. Cindric came out on top, achieving his fourth win of the year while leading a race high of 19 laps. Chase Briscoe fought hard and was in contention to win all day while finishing P3, his sixth top-five in the last seven races.
Ford leads all manufacturers with 13 NASCAR Cup series wins and nine Xfinity series wins. Stewart-Haas Racing and Harvick lead the owner and driver points standings in NCS and Cindric along with Team Penske lead the owner and driver points standing in the NXS.

Both the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity series will head to Daytona International Speedway to run the road course for the first time ever!

MOORESVILLE, NC – August 11, 2020 – NASCAR and its top touring series will take on a new challenge this weekend as the Daytona International Speedway Road Course plays host to the ARCA Menards, NASCAR XFINITY, NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor, and NASCAR Cup competitors Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Here’s a look at the schedule and some updated Ford notes.

 This Week’s Schedule:

Friday, August 14 – ARCA Menards Series, 5 p.m. (MAVTV)

Saturday, August 15 – NASCAR XFINITY Series, 3 p.m. (NBCSN)

Sunday, August 16 – NASCAR RV & Gander Outdoors Truck Series, Noon (FS1)

Sunday, August 16 – NASCAR Cup Series, 3 p.m. (NBC)

FORD SITTING ON 699 CUP WINS

Kevin Harvick’s doubleheader sweep at Michigan last weekend gave Ford 699 all-time NASCAR Cup Series wins.  Ford’s first victory came on June 25, 1950 when Shirtless Jimmy Florian upset the field at Dayton Speedway, beating the likes of NASCAR Hall of Famers Lee Petty and Curtis Turner.  Overall, there have been 85 drivers who have won at least one NASCAR Cup Series race in a Ford with NASCAR Hall of Famer Ned Jarrett, who won Ford’s first series championship in 1965, being the all-time leader with 43.

FORD’S BEST CUP START SINCE…

Ford leads all manufacturers with 13 NASCAR Cup Series wins in 22 starts this season, which marks the best start since 1997 when the Blue Oval won 14 times in the same number of races.  Ford went on to win 19 times that season, a mark that was equaled in 2018 when Joey Logano won the series championship and Ford captured the manufacturers’ title.  The most wins Ford has ever amassed in a season during the modern era (1972-present) is 20, which occurred in 1994.  Rusty Wallace led Ford that season with eight victories while Ernie Irvan and Geoffrey Bodine were next with three apiece.

FORD 1-2 IN CUP AND NXS STANDINGS

The regular season is winding down and multiple Ford drivers are competing for the championship and 15 playoff bonus points that goes to the winner.  Currently, Ford holds down the top two positions in the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR XFINITY Series.  Kevin Harvick leads the way and has a commanding 137-point lead over second-place Brad Keselowski in Cup while Austin Cindric has an 11-point NXS lead over Chase Briscoe.  Overall, Ford currently has eight drivers in Cup playoff positions with four races remaining before the playoffs start.

DOMINANT RETURN

Since returning to action on May 17 at Darlington Raceway, Ford has dominated in the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR XFINITY Series, winning a combined 19 times in 32 starts.  Ford has registered 11 wins in Cup in 18 races, which includes a current three-race winning streak, while the NXS duo of Chase Briscoe and Austin Cindric have combined to win eight times in 14 events, including six of the last seven.

HARVICK CLIMBING ALL-TIME WIN LISTS

As noted after his win on Sunday, Kevin Harvick moved into a tie for 10th-place on the all-time NASCAR Cup Series win list as he tied NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace with his 55th victory.  Harvick, who leads the series with six wins in 2020, has also made a rapid rise up the Ford list as well, despite the fact he is only in his fourth season with the manufacturer.  Harvick has now won 20 Cup races with Ford, which makes him one of only 13 drivers to win 20 or more, and ranks 13th all-time after tying and then passing NASCAR Hall of Famer Davey Allison and Greg Biffle over the weekend.

ROVAL REPLAY?

The last time NASCAR went to a new road course was in 2018 when Charlotte Motor Speedway debuted its ROVAL that fall.  On that occasion, Ford won both inaugural events as Chase Briscoe captured the NASCAR XFINITY race and Ryan Blaney took the Cup Series event.

CINDRIC WINS INAUGURAL XFINITY DAYTONA ROAD COURSE RACE

Posted on: August 17th, 2020

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – August 17, 2020 – Austin Cindric won his fifth race of the season in the historic first race on the Daytona International Speedway Road Course. This marked the 10th NASCAR Xfinity Series win of the season for Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines.
“Congratulations to Austin, Brian and the No. 22 crew,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “Austin is an accomplished road racer and drove a great race on Saturday. Our team at Roush Yates Engines is proud to partner with and build world-class engines for all the Ford Performance teams.”
The inaugural running of the Daytona Road Course was fast and furious, starting from the first lap. Ford Performance teammates, Cindric and Chase Briscoe, led the Xfinity field to the green flag and it was game on from the first lap. It was Cindric that mastered the course layout and track conditions to take control of the race to win the first Stage and secure 10 additional stage points.
The Ford Performance teammates would continue to battle each other throughout Stage 2, and it was Briscoe that would come out on top, winning Stage 2 and leading 26 laps.
In the final stage, Cindric perfectly managed a chaotic late race restart to stay in contention for the win. He passed leader Brandon Jones with five laps to go and built a sizable lead to take the checkered flag 7.108-second ahead of Jones. This was his fifth win out of the last six races and second road course win in a row.

When asked how he would describe the race, Cindric commented, “I’m not sure anyone was really happy with their race car. Unfortunately, I have a tough perspective of driving really fast high-grip race cars at this track, but great credit to my team, the MoneyLion guys and everyone that puts this together Ford Performance, Roush Yates Engines, obviously everyone at Team Penske for working hard. That’s five wins on the year and back-to-back now. I’m really proud of that. I didn’t feel like I drove my best today, but we executed there at the end where it counts and that’s what makes these races so difficult to win.”

Chris Buescher of Roush Fenway Racing led the Ford Performance teams to a top-5 finish, finishing P5 in the NASCAR Cup Series race in the Go Bowling 235 on Sunday, followed by Stewart-Haas Racing driver Clint Bowyer in P6, Team-Penske’s Joey Logano P9 and Front Row Motorsports driver Michael McDowell in P10.
With the playoffs fast approaching, NASCAR heads to Delaware for a double-header weekend. Both series will run back-to-back races, on Saturday and Sunday at Dover International Speedway.

FORD WINS 700th CUP RACE WITH HARVICK DOMINATING DOVER

DOVER, DE – August 24, 2020 – Kevin Harvick swept the Dover Drydene 311 Sunday by sweeping the stages and winning his seventh race of the year. In addition, Harvick clinched the regular season NASCAR Cup Series championship and Ford Performance’s 700th NASCAR win.
“Congratulations to Edsel {Ford} and Ford on their 700th NASCAR Cup win,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “It has been a blessing to be partners with Ford Performance since 2004 and to see our team compete at the highest levels of motorsports. Kevin and Chase’s {Briscoe} victories are a testament to the hard work and dedication that everyone puts into the Ford program and competing for a championship every week. We are proud to be part of the Ford family.”
Ford Performance dominated the Drydene 311, leading a total 308 laps out of the 311-lap race. Harvick in the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Mustang led 223 laps on the way to collecting his third win in the last five Cup races and his 56th career Cup win.
The race came down to the last round of pit-stops, as all the lead lap cars came down pit road one final time. The No. 4 crew put Harvick in position to win with four fresh tires. The No. 4 Ford Mustang took the lead and never looked back, building a 3.525 second lead on the field to take the checkered flag.

“Congratulations to Ford on their 700th Cup win. I want to thank everyone on this team,” commented Harvick in Victory Lane. “I love the grit of our race team. I think that is what Gene Haas and Tony Stewart have built at Stewart-Haas Racing. A team with a lot of grit. Sometimes we don’t have the fastest car, but we have guys willing to suck it up and when we have a weak link that day someone else will carry the team. I am really proud of that and that is what it is all about. You are only as good as the people around you and we have great people.”

Five Ford Mustangs finished in the top-10. Following Harvick was Ford teammates Joey Logano in P6 and Aric Almirola in P7, Brad Keselowski in P8 and Cole Custer in P10.
After a disappointing run on Saturday, Chase Briscoe called his shot, saying he would win Sunday’s NASCAR Xfinity race at Dover. Starting from the rear in a back-up car, due to a spin out on Saturday’s race, Briscoe patiently advanced through the field. Briscoe took over the lead on lap 71 and led 19 laps to win Stage 2.
The third and final stage was set up to be a duel between Ford Performance teammates Briscoe and Austin Cindric as they lined up first and second to start the final stage. Briscoe took the lead and finished the race leading 107 laps out of 200 lap race and crossed the finish line 2.463 seconds ahead of Ross Chastain. Briscoe recorded his sixth win of the season and Stewart-Haas Racing’s 18th career win in the Xfinity Series.

“As soon as we took the green, I knew that I was going to be really good,” commented Briscoe in Victory Lane. “The car was way better than what it was yesterday and was really what I was looking for. We were able to finish sixth in the first stage from the back and I knew if we could get clean air I was going to be in really good shape I am super happy to get HighPoint.com back in victory lane. It feels like it has been forever, but it has only been a month and a half. Hopefully, we can carry the momentum into the playoffs.”

Cindric drove a great race and finished third overall, and continues to lead in the overall driver’s points standings with Briscoe 62 points behind him in second.
Heading into the last week before the NASCAR Cup playoffs, Ford continues to lead all manufacturers with 14 NASCAR Cup Series wins and 11 Xfinity Series wins. Stewart-Haas Racing and Harvick continue to lead the NCS owner and driver points standings while Cindric along with Team Penske lead the owner and driver points standing in Xfinity.
Seb Priaulx and Scott Maxwell finished P4 in the No. 22 Ford Mustang GT4 and teammates Drew Staveley and James Pesek in P15 at the Virginia International Raceway in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
Countdown to the last race of the regular season at Daytona International Speedway. It’s all or nothing to get into the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs this coming weekend. The NXS Series continues its regular season at Daytona with five races remaining in the regular season. In addition, the next IMSA Michelin Pilot race will be held at Road Atlanta on September 4-5.

HEADING INTO CUP SERIES REGULAR SEASON FINALE AT DAYTONA

Posted on: August 28th, 2020

DAYTONA, FL – August 28, 2020 – NASCAR heads to Daytona International Speedway for the second time in three weeks, but this time the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR XFINITY drivers will be on the traditional oval as opposed to the road course they maneuvered previously.  It will be the final regular season event for the Cup Series with three playoff spots still up for grabs.  Here’s a look at some Ford notes going into the weekend.

FORD IN THE NASCAR CUP SERIES AT DAYTONA
· Ford has 37 all-time series wins at Daytona.
· The Wood Brothers are tied for the most wins among car owners at Daytona with 15.
· Ford’s first win at Daytona was by Tiny Lund in the 1963 Daytona 500.

FORD IN THE NASCAR XFINITY SERIES AT DAYTONA
· Ford has 6 series wins at Daytona.
· Ryan Reed has two of those wins (2015 and 2017).
· Austin Cindric captured the inaugural road course race two weeks ago.

FORD IN THE NASCAR GANDER RV & OUTDOORS TRUCK SERIES AT WWT
· Ford has 2 series wins at WWT Raceway.
· Greg Biffle (1999) and Terry Cook (2001) have those victories.
· Grant Enfinger has one series pole at the track (2018).

SIX FORD CUP DRIVERS IN PLAYOFFS
As the series heads to Daytona for the final race of the regular season, Ford has six drivers that have clinched positions in the field of 16.  Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Cole Custer and Aric Almirola are in while Clint Bowyer has a 57-point cushion for one of the last three spots.  Matt DiBenedetto is also battling to advance and goes into Saturday night’s race holding the next-to-last position.  He’s four points ahead of William Byron and nine points in front of Jimmie Johnson, who is currently the first driver on the outside looking in.

HARVICK WINS REGULAR SEASON CUP CHAMPIONSHIP
Kevin Harvick’s series-best seventh win of the year didn’t only give Ford its 700th all-time NASCAR Cup Series victory, but also clinched the regular season championship.  As a result, Harvick will get 15 bonus points toward his playoff total.  Harvick is now tied with Kyle Busch for ninth on the all-time NASCAR Cup win list with 56 victories and has posted 21 Ford triumphs in less than four years since joining the manufacturer with Stewart-Haas Racing for the 2017 campaign.

FORD STILL ON FIRE
Sunday’s Dover sweep in the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR XFINITY Series continued a torrid stretch of winning for Ford since the sport returned to action on May 17 at Darlington Raceway.  Since then, Ford has won 12 of the 21 Cup points races (57%) and 10 of the 17 XFINITY events (59%).  Overall, Ford leads each series in total wins (14 in Cup and 11 in XFINITY), and also tops both in the manufacturers’ standings.

FORD HIGHLIGHTS

ALMIROLA TAKES THE KING BACK TO VICTORY LANE
The first victory of Aric Almirola’s NASCAR Cup Series career came in the 2014 Coke Zero 400 at Daytona.  The win, which came after rain forced a halt to the event after 112 laps, came 30 years after his car owner, Richard Petty, won his record 200th series race in the same event.  Almirola had held the lead for seven laps and 14 of the previous 15 circuits when the rain began falling.  NASCAR waited 56 minutes before calling the race official.  The win marked the first for the famous No. 43 since 1999 and the first time it had been to victory lane with Ford since The King’s only season with the manufacturer in 1969 when he won nine times.

RAGAN RECOVERS FROM 500 SETBACK
Only five months after suffering heartbreak in the 2011 Daytona 500, David Ragan bounced back to win his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in the July event at Daytona International Speedway.  Ragan, who was leading the 500 on a green-white-checker restart, was assessed a penalty by NASCAR after getting ahead of Trevor Bayne and then changing lanes before the start-finish line.  The penalty cost him a chance at victory, but he made up for that in July as he passed Ryan Newman with eight laps to go and held off Matt Kenseth on the final lap to win for car owner Jack Roush.

A FIRST FOR THE BIFF
Greg Biffle made his rookie season a memorable one when he registered his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory in the July race at Daytona International Speedway in 2003.  Making only his 23rd career start, Biffle played the fuel-mileage game to perfection while his closest pursuer, Bobby Labonte, ran out on the final lap.  In a race that saw the last 81 laps go green, Biffle assumed the lead on lap 140 and held it for the final 21 laps.  Jeff Burton finished second and Ricky Rudd third as Ford swept the top three spots.

FIRECRACKER GOES TO FIREBALL
When Daytona International Speedway hosted the very first Firecracker 400 in 1963, the first man across the finsh line was Fireball Roberts, who led a Ford Motor Co. sweep of the top five spots.  Roberts passed Fred Lorenzen on the final lap to win the race with Marvin Panch third.  All three of those drivers were in Fords while fourth-place finisher Darel Dieringer was in a Mercury.  Ned Jarrett rounded out the top five in his Ford.  This marked the fifth overall event in July for the speedway, which opened in 1959, but the first four were 250-mile features.  The fans got their money’s worth on this day as the race featured 39 lead changes between six drivers, but the best was saved for the end as Roberts and Lorenzen waged a major battle that saw them exchange the lead four times in the final five laps before Roberts earned his third July win at Daytona.

JUNIOR AND CALE DOUBLE DOWN
Junior Johnson and Cale Yarborough hold the distinction of being the only two men who have won at Daytona International Speedway in a Ford as both driver AND owner.  Johnson won a qualifying race at the speedway in 1965, but had on his owner’s hat when Lee Roy Yarbrough won twice in 1969 and Jimmy Spencer in 1994.  Yarborough won the Firecracker 400 in 1967 as a driver and watched John Andretti take his Ford to victory lane in 1997.
